It's good to know whenever a megachurch is doing something good. In this case, NewSpring Church that has 10 locations in South Carolina has baptized over 2,300 people. Many other churches today don't even think it's necessary to baptize, but baptism is very important. It does get very tiresome when we've heard for the past 20 years, 'Water doesn't wash your sins away.' However, in various biblical scriptures proves water baptism is necessary and Jesus Christ wants us to do it. It's not a tradition, it's a commandment.
- John 3:5 Jesus answered, Truly, truly, I say to you, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
- Acts 1:5 For John truly baptized with water; but you shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.
Now, it's good to look at both verses. Although, Acts 1:5 says John baptized with water, in John 3:5 we are told if we are not born of the water and Spirit we cannot inherit the kingdom of God. Therefore, we have to have both, we must be baptized with water and filled with the Holy Ghost and of course, that goes along with living holy.
